In my teaching, I am constantly working to make learning the piano engaging, educational, and most of all, fun. Additionally, I strive to make piano lessons a "safe space" where students can feel relaxed, supported, and comfortable. My main goals in teaching are to instill a strong work ethic in students while developing finely trained musical skills. This allows students to take what is learned in lessons, using the same skills and knowledge, to practice at home and on pieces that the student enjoys.
Piano is for Everyone
All are welcome here, regardless of race, gender, religion, or sexuality. We ensure that all students will be made to feel welcome, safe, and supported.
As we all know, everybody is different. Because of this, I find that a "one size fits all" approach to piano lessons simply does not work. From the very first lesson, I try to listen to each student's goals, differences, and wishes in order to develop a lesson structure that will work best for the student. This not only helps to keep lessons fun and engaging, but it also allows me to better assess each student's individual strengths and weaknesses so that I can best help students succeed. Moreover, I have have experience teaching students from age 5 and up from many different backgrounds including children with autism spectrum disorders.
As a pianist and teacher, I have found that nurturing creativity is an essential aspect of piano lessons. It is important to provide students with a safe and supportive environment where they feel free to express themselves and explore their musical ideas. I encourage my students to experiment with different techniques, improvisation, interpretation, and thinking critically about the music they are playing. By fostering creativity in their piano playing, I believe that my students not only develop their technical skills but also gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of music as an art form.
